Why You Should Quit Your Part-Time Job and Work From Home.
OK, listen to me for a moment. This is all hypothetical and is not for everyone. It may make you rethink your current situation. Maybe just maybe, it may be worth working at home. The average person drives roughly 12.5 miles one way to work and travels back home the same distance for a total of 25 miles a day. Now say you work 5 days a week. The miles traveled to and from work is 125 miles a week. If you do this for the entire year, total miles traveled would be 6500 miles a year.
Now, lets pretend and say you drive a SUV. Say the SUV averages 15MPG or so. If I take the 6500 miles a year and divide it by the 15MPG, you would consume roughly 433 gallons of gasoline to get to and from work each year. The average price of gasoline is hovering around $4.00 a gallon, multiplied by the total gallons of gas for the year totals approximately $1732.
OK, so you rush around every morning trying to accomplish your morning chores before going out the door. You pass on breakfast because you know you can stop at the local coffee place for a cup of coffee and a pastry. Your daily cup of coffee and pastry runs you roughly $3.25. Not bad when you’re in a hurry. This is your daily routine. Breakfast equals about $16.25 a week, over the course of the year $845.
You currently work part-time 20 hours a week at $10.00 per hour. You make $200 a week or a little over $10,000 per year. After you take out gas money, breakfast and taxes (can't forget those ), you probably make a little more than $6000 a year and make maybe $5.25 an hour. Oh yeah, that does not include the time you spend driving in the car, which could easily be 1 hour a day, 5 hours a week for about 260 hours a year, not paid.
OK, so you know where I am going with this. In my opinion that is a whole heck of a lot of precious time and aggrevation wasted on a part time job for little money. So my thoughts are this: If you love your job, love the stress of rushing out everyday to get somewhere on time, need to ask permission to go to the dentist, doctors, stay home with a sick child, take an elderly parent somewhere or have to apologize profusely because you needed to bring your dog to the vets to be put down on your way to work and you were late, then I guess this is for you.
But, if you are a type A personality like myself or just like a rewarding sense of making it on your own, maybe, just maybe you might want to try working at home for yourself. Whether you continue to do what you are doing or finding some other home-based opportunity, there is nothing like the sense of accomplishment or self-satisfaction knowing that you have created this sense of freedom. The only person you have to answer to is yourself because you are the boss.
Don't get me wrong, having a home-based or online home-based business has it stress as well. If you have any type of discipline and motivation, you will be fine. Whatever you do, do your research and DO NOT FALL FOR GET RICH SCHEMES. It is still a job and should be treated as such, but every bit worth the troubles. You just may find that you may make more money. To get started, check out my website http://www.getmeknown.com/ .
